No team is perfect

You just have to love meaningful MLB games in September. Brewers fans are experiencing something that most have not witnessed in their entire lifetimes, a team churning towards a division championship. It's justified to hang on every pitch from several teams. And today, just when it looked like the rival Cardinals were going to spank the Mets in route to their 5th straight win and claw to within 1 game of Atlanta in the Wild Card and 4 of the Crew in the Central, their bullpen coughs up 6 runs in the 9th to lose 8-6. Crew's magic number dropped to 2 with 6 to play and Atlanta, which is leaking all kinds of oil, regains a 2 game lead in the Wild Card.

It is now up to the Crew to take care of business vs. the Marlins and Pirates at Miller Park. The Central crown should come any day now, possibly even tomorrow. But with a slim one game lead over the D'backs for the 2nd best record in the NL...it is of utmost importance to maintain that over the season's final six games. Maintain that position and if Atlanta stave's off St. Louis, the Crew will host the NLDS vs. the Braves. Drop behind the Snakes and that means Milwaukee is headed to Philadelphia to take on the big machine. Monumental difference. Zona finishes the season with three games vs. San Francisco and three vs. the Dodgers. Crew's schedule is undoubtedly easier, but as we all witnessed today in St. Louis, nobody is perfect in this game.
